Welcome to The Trilogy: Coming October 8-10, 2010

Little Seneca Creek: Oil Painting by Kadra Casseday
I am VERY excited to present a new race that Dan Lehmann and I will be co-directing this fall: the WV Trilogy. This will be a run of days (three to be exact) across the Eastern Continental Divide and West Virginia's highest hill, Spruce Knob. The race will consist of a 50K on Day 1, 50M on Day 2, and Half Marathon on Day 3. The Mountain Institute will be the race headquarters for this adventure and will provide a purely unique and inspiring setting. As I have mentioned before, this race is going to be special. All races are distinctive in their own right, but this one is going to be truly special. You will not want to miss being a part of this race and the grandeur of the WV autumn on the epic trails of Spruce Knob. There is a race distance for everyone and the grand challenge of tackling The Trilogy. For complete details, visit the WV Trilogy site.

  1. First off, I have to give my praise and admiration to Kadra for the beautiful painting of Little Seneca Creek. The only thing missing is me sitting in that wonderful cool water on a hot summer afternoon after a long run with a wonderful group of friends. As far as the run goes, I thank you and Dan for setting up a great weekend. I know this has and will be a great amount of work for you both. I am going to have to give this some serious thought.

  2. Rick,
Yes, that is a new painting that Kadra just finished. I have to say it's one of my favorites.
I hope you can fit the Trilogy into your running schedule. Trust me when I say that it's one worth prioritizing on the calendar. There are so many great races though, just not enough time, money, or energy to do them all in one year. (at least I can't!)

  3. Adam –
This looks epic. I’m totally motivated. This type of event has intrigued me since reading about 3 Days of Syllamo. Thank you for the effort in putting all of this together and for setting my autumn schedule!
    Best regards,

  4. Chris,

I'm glad that you are planning on running the Trilogy. I think you will be very well suited to this type of event. You are very consistent, conservative, and mentally tough; oh and fast!.....you'll certainly be battling for the win.

  5. Adam,

Excellent venue. I'm going to try my best to make it. Question: could Lily, my dad and I register collectively as a "team" (my dad could run the 50K, Lily and I arriving after work late Friday, I'd run the 50M and Lily the half)?

  6. Matt,

You can sign up as a "team", but it would still be everyone signing up for the respective races separately...so really what I'm saying is there is no team competition for the Trilogy. Dan and I discussed this for a while and decided not to do a team competition at least this first year to see how things shake out; logistically and financially.
